Starting point

Malè

Directions

Take the main road from Malè to the village of Terzolas. Near to the 'Palazzo Torraccia' (once the home of the noble Malanotti family, now the seat of the local council - note the angle of the towers, inside there are examples of some original murals) continue left uphill towards the church, built at the beginning of 1800. Carry on straight ahead through the old part of the village, through fruit orchards until reaching the village of Samoclevo. From here there is a steep climb (to the left of the fountain) to the antique 'Rocca', once the castle belonging to the Caldes and Thun families, (a legend exists which says there was a tunnel connecting the two homes) situated above the village. At the end of the tarmacked road, and turning left, through some newly built houses there is a winding road which leads to the village of San Giacomo. Until a few hundred years ago known as 'Solasna', this village has a beautiful small gothic church. Crossing the village under the arches and coming out at the other end the road transforms into a dirt road and goes directly to the village of Cis. Once arriving in Cis continue on the main road to the village of Livo. Here, close to the recycling plant, leave the main road and take the road on the left and a steep climb will take to you Val di Bresimo and the village baring same name. From here there is a tarmacked road which takes you to Malga Bordolona Bassa. Continue uphill on the dirt road to Malga Bordolona Alta. Relax for some refreshment before starting the demanding climb to Passo Palù (this must be walked). From Passo Palù (2.412 m) there is a beautiful view of still unspoilt landscape. Downhill (continuing on foot) to Malga Palù. From here, finally back on your bike, on the dirt road, past Malga Caldesa you will arrive in the village of Piazzola (Rabbi). Downhill all the way from here back to Malè.
It is strongly advised to pack your own food and some energy snacks.
We recommend always carrying a repair kit: inner tube, pump, mastic, patches and an emergency repair kit.
