This itinerary in the valley Val del Monte has a great historic interest. It goes on a land strongly fought by the Italian and the Austro-Hungarian armies during the Great War period 1915-18.
This itinerary goes through very impressive places, that still today can tell the stories of the sad time of the Great War: trenches, fortifications, barracks and military tracks are the witnesses of the presence of Italian troops trying to fight the Austrian enemy, located between the peaks of the mountains Monte Cevedale and Punta San Matteo.

Some places to stop at:

“Stói de la Vegaia”: a series of tunnels dug into the rock that were used as military lookouts, for shelter or as ammunition stores.
