With its 580 meters of descent, this trail connects Ortisè with Mezzana through ancient mule tracks, trail sections, and unpaved roads.
Once you reach Ortisè, a hamlet of the municipality of Mezzana, you can access the hamlet of Menas via a little-used secondary asphalt road. From up here, the view of the mountains surrounding Val di Sole is truly expansive: a panorama that stretches from the Brenta Dolomites to the Adamello Presanella group. The trail begins in Menas: you start descending first on a dirt road, which gradually narrows until it becomes a mule track and then a fun trail for some sections. The final part of the itinerary is along a paved road until you reach Mezzana.

Suggestions

The view from this side of the valley is very beautiful; you are in a very open and sunny area. Every now and then, look up and fall in love with the peaks that surround you.

Safety information

At an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level, as you descend to Mezzana, you will pass along a fairly steep paved road. Given the stable surface and the significant incline, it is easy to gain speed quickly. Therefore, exercise caution.

Other precautions:

- Plan the tour based on your abilities and the weather forecast.
- Go slowly, be careful, and enjoy the scenery and silence.- Adapt your riding style to the characteristics and condition of the terrain.
- Rely on bike guides.
- Wear appropriate clothing and equipment.
- Respect the environment and the people who live there by taking your waste back down with you.
- Respect the trail and do not ride on paths that are forbidden for bikes. Stop if someone needs help.
- Be cautious along shared cycling and walking paths, which are also frequented by hikers.
- If you encounter pedestrians, alert them to your arrival and reduce your speed.

Starting point

Menas

Directions

At the Madonna del Fuoco chapel in the center of the characteristic village of Menas, take the dirt road that descends to the entrance of the trail.

Follow the road, keeping to the right at intersections, until you reach the entrance of a technical and fun single track.

Follow the route to the area of Le Plaze and continue on the dirt road, which is very steep in places with a concrete surface.

The road leads directly to the village of Mezzana, where the trail ends.

Public transportation

From Trento, you can travel up to Val di Sole until you reach the Mezzana station using the electric railway "Trento - Malé - Mezzana," which allows bicycles to be transported on the carriages (for more information: Trentino Trasporti - https://www.trentinotrasporti.it/viaggia-con-noi/ferrovia).

From the Mezzana station, it is then necessary to move towards the hamlets of Ortisè and Menas either by car or by bike.

How to get there

From Bergamo-Brescia: follow the SS42 of Tonale.

From Bologna-Verona and the Brenner: take the A22 Brenner motorway, exiting at Trento Nord for those coming from the south, and at San Michele all’Adige for those coming from the north. Continue towards Cles, Val di Non, along the SS43, and after passing Cles, take the SS42 towards Passo del Tonale, Val di Sole.

Where to park

There is the possibility to leave the car either in the hamlets of Ortisè or Menas, or alternatively in the village of Mezzana.
We always recommend carrying a repair kit with you: a spare inner tube, a pump, adhesive, patches, and a set of tools for quick repairs.
