With its 580 meters of downhill elevation, this trail connects Ortisè with Mezzana via ancient mule tracks, sections of trail, and dirt roads.

Once you have climbed to Ortisè, a village of the municipality of Mezzana, you reach, via a usually little trafficked secondary paved road, the village of Menas. From here the view of the mountains surrounding Val di Sole is really very wide: a panorama so vast that it goes from the Brenta Dolomites to the Adamello Presanella mountain group.
From Menas the trail starts: first descending on a dirt road, then the road narrows increasingly until becoming a mule track and then a fun trail in some sections. The last part of the itinerary runs on a paved road to Mezzana.

Suggestions

The view from this side of the valley is very beautiful; you are in a very open and sunny area. Every now and then, look up and fall in love with the peaks that surround you.

Safety information

From an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level, descending to Mezzana, you pass on a rather steep paved road: given the stable surface and the considerable slope, it is easy to pick up speed quickly. Therefore, pay attention.

Other advice:

- Plan the route according to your abilities and the weather forecast;

- Go slowly, be careful, enjoy the view and the silence;

- Adapt your riding style to the characteristics and condition of the terrain;

- Rely on bike guides;

- Wear appropriate clothing and equipment;

- Respect the environment around you and its inhabitants by carrying your waste down;

- Respect the trail and do not use those forbidden to bikes. Stop if someone needs help;

- Be cautious along the shared cycle-pedestrian path and mixed-use trails, also frequented by hikers;

- If you encounter pedestrians, warn them of your arrival and reduce speed.

Starting point

Menas

Directions

At the Madonna del Fuoco shrine in the center of the characteristic village of Menas, take the dirt road that descends to the start of the trail. Follow the road keeping to the right at intersections until the start of a technical and fun single track. Follow the route to the locality of Le Plaze and continue on the dirt road, which in parts has a very steep concrete surface.
The road leads directly to the settlement of Mezzana where the trail ends.

Public transportation

From Trento, ascend Val di Sole until Mezzana station, with the electric railway "Trento - Malé - Mezzana" which allows bike transport in the carriages (for more information: https://www.trentinotrasporti.it/viaggia-con-noi/ferrovia).

From Mezzana station, it is necessary to move towards the villages of Ortisè and Menas either by car or bike.

How to get there

From Bergamo-Brescia: follow the SS42 of the Tonale.

From Bologna-Verona and Brenner: A22 Brenner motorway exit Trento Nord if coming from the south, exit San Michele all’Adige if coming from the north. Continue towards Cles, Val di Non, along the SS43 and, after passing Cles, take SS42 towards Passo del Tonale, Val di Sole.

Where to park

It is possible to leave the car either in the villages of Ortisè or Menas, or alternatively in the town of Mezzana.

We always recommend carrying a repair kit: inner tube, pump, latex, patches, and a set of tools for quick repairs.
