The best way to reach the famous Caprioli Lake is by bike: in silence, without polluting, and fully enjoying the environment surrounding the lake.
Departure is planned from the town of Pellizzano. Continuing along the bike path, you will cross the village of Ossana, passing at the foot of the picturesque Castel San Michele. You then climb via a dirt road to Valpiana, a typical mountain pasture where you can relax on the banks of the Foce di Valpiana stream, refreshing your feet. In the surroundings of Malga Valpiana, in addition to finding several equipped areas with tables and fire pits for barbecues or outdoor picnics, it is quite common to encounter grazing livestock.

The route continues along the forest road until you reach the enchanting Caprioli Lake. Here you will find the Chalet Lago dei Caprioli, which offers bar and restaurant services, as well as other refreshment points to discover in the Fazzon area.

Safety information

The descent from Lake Caprioli to Pellizzano can also take place on asphalt, using a secondary road where car traffic is allowed. Therefore, we advise caution, moderating your speed and staying to the right of the roadway.

Other precautions:

- Plan the tour based on your abilities and weather forecasts.

- Go slowly, be careful, enjoy the scenery and the silence.

- Adapt your riding style to the characteristics and condition of the terrain.

- Rely on bike guides.

- Wear appropriate clothing and equipment.

- Respect the environment around you and those who live there by taking your waste down with you.

- Respect the trail and do not ride on those prohibited for bikes. Stop if someone needs help.

- Be cautious along the bike-pedestrian path and mixed-use trails, frequented by hikers as well.

- If you encounter pedestrians, alert them to your arrival and reduce your speed.

Pellizzano

Directions

From the Bici Grill in Pellizzano, head towards the Ski Jumping Center, then turn right onto Via dei Regolani until you reach Ognano and its square. Then continue on Via Simone Lenner and follow Strada per Valtresin, taking the Val di Sole Cycling and Pedestrian Path.

Follow the cycle path towards Ossana until you reach the intersection with Strada del Fossà, a secondary road that goes up from Fucine to Ossana. Then take Strada del Fossà to the left and head towards the historic center of Ossana until you reach the Church of San Vigilio. From there, take the road, initially paved and then dirt, which leads to Valpiana. Once you arrive in Valpiana, at the fork, take the forest road Via per Salvat, which leads directly to the shores of Lago dei Caprioli.

Return to the valley by following the same route as the outward journey.

Public transportation

From Trento, take the route to Val di Sole, up to the Mezzana station, using the electric railway “Trento - Malé - Mezzana,” which allows for bike transport on the carriages (for more information: https://www.trentinotrasporti.it/viaggia-con-noi/ferrovia).

From the Mezzana station, continue along the bike path until you reach the village of Pellizzano.

How to get there

From Bergamo-Brescia: follow the SS42 of Tonale.

From Bologna-Verona and Brenner: A22 Brenner exit Trento Nord for those coming from the south, exit San Michele all’Adige for those coming from the north. Continue towards Cles, Val di Non, along the SS43, and after Cles, take the SS42 towards Passo del Tonale, Val di Sole.

Where to park

It is recommended to leave the car at the BiciGrill parking lot in Pellizzano.
We always recommend bringing a repair kit with you: spare tube, pump, glue, patches, and a set of tools for quick repairs.
