A very simple and family-friendly walk to reach Malga Tonale.
At Malga Tonale you can observe cute dairy cows grazing and relax with the sound of their bells. The spectacular view that will open in front of you will allow you to admire the peaks of the Adamello Presanella mountain group, among which stands out the highest peak of Trentino, the Presanella.
For a mountain hike we suggest you to:
Once you have left the car in the Valbiolo chairlift parking lot at Passo del Tonale, you start walking along the paved road that climbs steadily and gently towards the Ospizio San Bartolomeo. After about a 20-minute easy walk, you reach Malga Tonale located at an altitude of 1,930 meters where you can admire dairy cows that spend the summer months here. The return is planned along the same route.
Once back at the Valbiolo parking lot, we recommend visiting the Torbiera del Tonale, a large wetland basin characterized by exceptional biodiversity richness that hosts numerous plant species common in Arctic regions, but very rare in the Alps and is an ideal habitat for many species of amphibians, reptiles, and insects, including the dragonfly and the Alpine newt. It is visitable via an interesting thematic path.
You can reach Passo del Tonale by the MALÈ - MEZZANA - FUCINE - VERMIGLIO - TONALE line bus (download the schedules for outbound and return).
