Suggestions

On the way back we suggest a detour to the suspension bridge.

Safety information

To undertake a mountain hike we suggest you:

  • choose a route suitable for your level of preparation. If in doubt, contact the Mountain Guides or our Information Offices;
  • prepare your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you will follow and the operating hours of lifts, if your itinerary includes their use. Remember that the passability of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, inform yourself well about the route and its conditions before setting out;
  • leave information about your itinerary, the approximate time of return and carry your mobile phone;
  • pay attention to signs and markings found along the route: Stelvio Park signs, SAT white and red signs, and red and white brushstrokes on stones or trees; raise the alarm by calling 112 in case of accident;
  • book in advance the hut or shelter where you intend to stop to eat or sleep; never abandon waste in the high altitude and, if possible, avoid leaving it at shelters or malghe you will visit;
  • if you see wild animals along the way, we invite you to stay on the trail you are following, do not approach too closely, do not shout and keep your dog on a leash, to avoid it chasing them instinctively, frightening them.

ANTI COVID-19 RULES:

  • mask use must be respected even in the mountains;
  • maintain a safety distance of at least 2 meters from others;
  • avoid sharing personal items, tools and bottles or flasks with others;
  • carry hand sanitizer with you to frequently disinfect hands and surfaces;

Starting point

Rabbi Bagni

Directions

After parking the car, just a few dozen meters past the Terme di Rabbi, take the forest road that climbs to the left towards Val Cercen - Malga Monte Sole - Al Fontanon parking lot. You will be surrounded by tall and sturdy fir trees that have inhabited these steep slopes for centuries, and you will climb until you reach the Ragaiolo stream, whose waters will accompany you to the junction that will indicate to you on the left that the hut is near. From the locality Fontanon, the cowbells of the grazing cows will guide you to the hut, where you will have the opportunity to watch the cheese-making process.

The return follows the same route, but before reaching the car, we recommend making a detour to the suspension bridge over the Ragaiolo waterfalls, which at 60 meters high will give you strong emotions.

Leave the car in the large parking lot of Plazze dei Forni and continue on foot, following the Rabbies stream, or take the Stelviobus Rabbi shuttle bus - Line 3 and get off at the Fontanon stop. From here the hut is very close.

Where to park
