  • the day before the hike, check the weather and avalanche danger level;
  • if you plan to reach an alpine hut or refuge, make sure they are open and if you intend to stop to eat or sleep, call them in advance to book;
  • before leaving, if you don’t feel well, postpone the outing until you feel better;
  • never leave waste on the mountain and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the huts or farmsteads you visit;
  • if you encounter wild animals along the route, please do not approach, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to avoid the instinct to chase and frighten them.

Starting point

Rabbi Fonti

Directions

Go through Val di Rabbi to the end and about 800 meters beyond the Terme di Rabbi, park in the Plan locality, near the cross-country ski track.

Continue straight into the woods on a packed road, keeping along the left bank of the Rabbies stream to the Coler locality (1,386 m). Here, cross the bridge over the Rabbies stream and climb along its right bank. After admiring several typical farmsteads, restored respecting tradition, as the rules of the Stelvio National Park require, you will arrive near the Rifugio Al Fontanin. From here on, pay particular attention because this stretch can be affected by avalanches. Continue on the forest road to Malga Stablasolo (1,539 m), from where you will have a pleasant view of the path you have just traveled. If you plan to stop to enjoy the typical dishes of the hut, we recommend that before leaving for the hike, you check the opening hours and, if possible, book in advance by calling (+39) 338 8639582.

If conditions allow, you can proceed to the bridge over the Rio Rabbies in front of the Saent waterfalls. Beyond this point, the path is very icy and it is not recommended to continue towards the high Saent waterfalls, especially if you are not equipped with crampons.

The return is by the same route.

Public transportation

You can reach the Rabbi Terme (Rabbi Baths) locality by the Trentino Trasporti line bus MALÈ - RABBI BAGNI - SOMRABBI (download the departure and return schedules) and from there continue on foot towards the Plan locality (about 1 kilometer)

How to get there

Follow the SP86 of Val di Rabbi to the end of the valley, in the Plan locality.

Where to park

Park your car in the Plan locality, near the cross-country ski track.
