A mountain hut nestled in the Stelvio National Park, surrounded by green pastures and the peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale mountain range.
Just 8 kilometers from Cogolo, you can reach this mountain hut in nearly 3 hours of walking along a moderately difficult route that follows the Noce River. Malga Pontevecchio is a farm stay where you can enjoy delicious lunches and snacks made with local products, all while soaking in a breathtaking panorama.

Suggestions
The mountain hut is also reachable by car, with free access via a dirt road.
Plan your hike in advance: check the weather forecast, the trail you'll follow, and the opening hours of any lift facilities if included in your route. Remember that trail conditions in the mountains depend on natural events, environmental changes, and weather conditions. Always get up-to-date information about the route before setting out
Leave details of your itinerary and estimated return time with someone, and carry your mobile phone with you
Follow signs and markers along the route: Stelvio National Park signs, red and white SAT signs, and red and white trail markings on rocks or trees
Book your meal or overnight stay in huts or mountain dairies (malghe) in advance
Never leave waste at high altitude and, if possible, avoid leaving it even at huts or dairies you visit
If you spot wildlife along the way, stay on the trail, don’t get too close, avoid shouting, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from chasing and scaring the animals
Starting point
Locality Pont a Cogolo
Directions
After parking your car in the Pont area in Cogolo, head towards the “Polveriera”, an area once named after the large quantities of explosive powder stored here for the construction of the major dams in Val di Peio. This is an isolated area along the Noce River, not far from the Pont hydroelectric power plant – known as the most beautiful power station in Italy, which we highly recommend visiting. From the Polveriera, follow the comfortable gravel road that climbs steadily up to the Tablà parking area. From there, take SAT trail 140B to reach the malga.
