Safety information

To face a mountain hike we suggest you:

  • choose a route suitable for your preparation. In case of doubt, contact the Alpine Guides or our Information Offices
  • prepare your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you will follow and the opening times of the lifts, if your itinerary includes their use. Remember that the passability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to contingent conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, inform yourself well about the route and its conditions before leaving
  • leave information about your itinerary, your approximate return time, and carry your cellphone with you
  • pay attention to the signs you find on the route: Stelvio Park signs, white and red SAT signs and red and white strokes on stones or trees
  • book in advance the mountain hut or refuge where you intend to stop to eat or sleep
  • never abandon waste at altitude and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or mountain huts you visit
  • if you spot wild animals along the route, we invite you to stay on the path, do not approach too closely, do not shout and keep your dog on a leash, to prevent it from instinctively chasing and frightening them

Starting point

Menas

Directions

Starting from the village of Menas, you cross it and after passing a large barn, take the forest road on the right until you reach the sign with a prohibition, where you can leave your car. From here, on foot you first climb on a flat path and then slightly steep, following the signs for Mlaga Monte Alta and after about one and a half kilometers, you reach the Malga del Monte Bassa located at 1699 meters altitude. After passing the malga, follow the signs for the "Laresi dela Tegia" which starts shortly after. The path is definitely panoramic and will allow you to admire 25 larches with bizarre and fascinating shapes (especially recommended in the autumn period, during which the larches take on warm and enveloping colors). Continuing on the path, you reach a clearing from which you can enjoy a splendid view of the Brenta Dolomites and the Adamello. Continuing it is finally possible to reach the Bait del Germano. The return is planned along the same route.

Public transportation

You can reach Menas with the Trentino Trasporti line bus MALÈ - PELLIZZANO and then the Trentino Trasporti bus PELLIZZANO - MENAS (download departure and return times)
