Enjoyable walk from Cortina, following the so-called "Via dele Pendege," leading to the Chapel of San Giorgio where a splendid panorama opens over the upper Val di Sole, even glimpsing the Tonale saddle.
"Via dele Pendege," this is the name of the small road connecting Vermiglio and specifically the small village of Cortina to Ossana. It is a dirt road winding on the southern slope of the valley and crossing a forest of firs and larches before reaching wide and sunny meadows from which it is possible to enjoy a spectacular view. Take some time to observe the beautiful upper part of Val di Sole and its characteristic mountain villages.
Rules for mountain walks:
Starting from the village of Cortina, where you can park your car, shortly after the church of Pietro in Cortina (1213 m), from the hairpin bend begins the small road "Via dele Pendege," which winds on the sunny slope through the pasture, reaching the chapel of San Giorgio (1070 m): from here you can enjoy a wide panorama over the upper Val di Sole up to the Tonale saddle. Once you reach the chapel, you can return to the starting point by retracing the outward route. Alternatively, continuing along the forest road, in about 30 minutes you reach the village of Fucine di Ossana. For the return, it is possible to take the outward path again, or from the other orographic side, crossing the main road and following the Vermigliana stream, you take the forest road which, passing through the woods and crossing gentle meadows, returns to Vermiglio.
You can reach the village of Vermiglio by the Trentino Trasporti line bus MALÈ - MEZZANA - FUCINE - VERMIGLIO - TONALE (download the outbound and return timetables). From the bus stop, you can reach the village of Cortina in about 10 minutes on foot.
Follow the SS42 until you reach the village of Vermiglio. From here, follow the signs to the village of Cortina.
You can leave your car in the parking lot located in the Cortina area.
To undertake this walk, we recommend wearing hiking boots and a hat, and bringing a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, and a water bottle in your backpack.
