Nestled partly in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, this route will allow you to reach 2,100 meters above sea level, where you can admire the towering Brenta Dolomites from a different vantage point.
Loop trail that climbs up the steep slopes of Monte Peller: the unusual mountain that separates Val di Sole from Val di Non, characterized by wide, green pastures and splendid views of both Valli del Noce valleys. The ascent up the mountain is on gravel terrain with a steady gradient and allows you to reach Malga Tassulla surrounded by the Brenta Dolomites and the pretty Lago delle Salare, where you can stop to catch your breath after the strenuous climb. From here on, a steep and challenging descent on steep, gravelly terrain will give you back the energy spent in the ascent to the mountain.
To ride this route safely, it is necessary to use a Gravel bike with min. 38 mm tires. It is also important to be familiar with the bike on terrain that can be steep and to have a good patronage of using the brakes on descents.
As you will imagine, the rideability of routes in a mountain environment is closely related to contingent conditions and thus depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, inquire about the status of the route by contacting the valley tourist offices.
Starting from the Caldes train station, you will pedal downhill until you reach the locality of Contre and after crossing the Noce River, you will head to the small village of Cavizzana, the only village located on the right side of the river that crosses the entire valley. From here, the ascent begins with a constant slope on the forest road that leads to Mount Peller and that will allow you to admire unique landscapes. Near the top of the mountain, which is characterized by its reddish color and unusual shape, is Malga Tassulla, a small alpine hut surrounded by the verse and wide pastures, where you can find cute cows grazing the grass. Here you can take a break to contemplate the spectacular landscape around you. Once past the Malga tassulla, you will start to make the round trip to the mountain, reaching the pretty Lago delle Salare and then begin the descent on a dirt road, quite steep, that will lead you back to Contre in Caldes.
You can reach the Caldes train station by taking the TRENTO - MALE' - MEZZANA train (download round-trip schedules).
Drive along the SS42 and past the pass of Cavizzana, which you will leave on your left, take the second exit at the traffic circle and enter the village of Caldes, continuing along Via Novembre until you reach the train station.
You can leave your car in the parking lots in the immediate vicinity of the station.
To tackle this route, we recommend you wear a bike helmet and bring a backpack with a waterproof jacket, sunscreen and a water bottle. It is also important to carry a repair kit: inner tube, pump, putty, patches and a set of tools for quick repairs.
