The Saènt basin, in the heart of the Stelvio National Park, where you can see marmots, chamois and flowers of every colour, is the location of the refuge named after Silvio Dorigoni, president of the SAT (Association of Trentino Mountaineers) at the end of the 19th century. Here, dark coloured mountains contrast with the turquoise blue waters of the glacial lakes just above the refuge. This is the kingdom of water, also used to produce the refuge’s electricity, while a few waterfalls further down it is exploited for its therapeutic properties at the Rabbi thermal spa. A place for lovers of big mountains and unspoilt nature. Open From 20 June to 20 September Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks The walk to Passo di Rabbi (Rifugio Stella Alpina al Lago Corvo) takes 3 ¾ hours (difficulty EE). You can walk to the Rifugio Nino Corsi in Val Martello over Passo di Saent on SAT footpaths no. 101 then no. 12 (4 hours, difficulty EE). Just above the Refuge a nature trail (suitable for all walkers) takes you to the little Sternai lakes (2 ½ hours).
