Fort Strino is located along the road that goes towards Passo Tonale, between the town of Vermiglio and Passo Tonale. Built in 1862, it is part of a fortification system in Trentino created by the Austrian Militia after the Wars of Independence, when the Trentino region became the southern border of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Both the fort and the town of Vermiglio played a key role on the warfront, and today, almost 80 years after the end of these tragic events, the fort has been patiently and meticulously restored in order to become a historical museum of the «White War».
