FROM FARM TO TABLE

Mountain farming

Mountain farming has fundamental characteristics that make it different from farming in the lowlands. The mountain poses limits: the horizon for one, altitude for some crops, physical limits for actually selling the produce.
Beyond these limits however, the mountain environment also offers many advantages. The climate here, for example, helps to preserve the organic substance of the soil and therefore its fertility too. The temperature difference between night and day and warm sunshine guarantee that products have special, unique flavour and aroma.
In the upper valley, vegetables, soft fruits, flowers, and officinal and aromatic herbs are grown, while in the lower valley they grow a fine product whose name is more usually associated with nearby Val di Non: the Melinda apple, today renowned on all markets in Italy.

THE FARMERS’ MARKET

Zero miles

A holiday is not complete without a glimpse into how the locals live and their most meaningful traditions. The Val di Sole farmers’ market is not just about daily shopping, it is a chance to choose the best of our local food and get to know the people who produce it better.
The goods on the stalls give off the typical fragrances of our land and are laid out carefully and explained by those who devote effort and passion to their cultivation. Choose the best fruit, cheese and vegetables for an experience steeped in the very essence of our valley. At our farmers’ markets you will find specialities like vegetables, fresh cheese produced directly in the malghe or mountain farmhouses, soft fruits, apples and honey from local beekeepers, and sausages and other cured meats, like luganega, speck and so much more.
