Dimaro Folgarida lies at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites, at the start of the Val di Meledrio valley. The villages of Dimaro, Carciato, Folgarida, Monclassico and Presson are part of the municipality. The destination is ideal for an active vacation. You can practice many sports here, including hiking, biking and rafting in the summer and skiing, snowshoeing and ski mountaineering in the winter. Dimaro has been the summer training camp of Naple’s football club since 2011.
If you come this way, the Ecomuseo Val Meledrio is a unique and engaging ecomuseum you must see. It starts at the Church of San Lorenzo and winds its way along the Meledrio stream until reaching the Dosso di Santa Brigida peak above the village of Folgarida. You will find interesting testaments to old trades, such as the ancient Venetian sawmill, the “Fosinace”, a smithy were iron was worked, and the “Calcara”, an old lime kiln.
As you walk around the villages of Monclassico and Presson, you will come across houses decorated with frescoes that are genuine works of art, featuring a wide variety of colours and subjects of various sizes. These are sundials and there are 50 in all, painted by famous artists on the façades of houses located throughout the streets of the two villages since 2001. They all have one thing in common: they mark time in an extremely accurate way!
The Associazione Le Meridiane organises guided visits through which you will learn how they work and satiate your curiosity.
If you love active vacations, you are going to love Dimaro Folgarida and its endless possibilities. For starters, Folgarida is situated at the foot of the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta Val di Sole Val Rendena Skiarea, which connects the Folgarida-Marilleva ski slopes and facilities to the ones in Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo. Here you can have fun skiing all winter long. In the summer, you can go hiking or jump on your mountain bike to ride the Val di Sole bike trail. And if you really want an adrenaline rush, you can go rafting down the Noce River.
