Croviana boasts a tourism tradition spanning centuries. Between the 17th and 18th centuries it became the most sought-after tourist destination of the noble families of Trentino and Lombardy.
The village has been witnessing considerable development over the last few years in terms of housing and sports and accommodation facilities. Overlooking the village with its main and corner towers is the Castello dei Pezzen (16th century), later home of the Thun family. The Church of San Giorgio, with its Gothic forms and wood icons, dates back to 1600. Other 17th-century country-manor homes can also be admired.
In addition to the artistic gems of its historic centre, Croviana also boasts a splendid 18th-century mill. Located by the Noce River in Fosine along the road that leads to Plazze, the mill is now known as the MMape bee museum and is home to numerous volunteer associations based in Croviana.
MMape is a place where science and nature come together and become catalysts to learn about, disseminate and enhance mountain beekeeping, beehive products and the complex world of bees.
Here you can discover the wonderful world of bees, learn about their habits, the hazards they face each day, and the incredibly laborious life they lead at the beehive! Enter their nest, listen to the sounds coming from the small cells and observe a tiny larva magically turn into a bee; learn to defend and protect them from their enemies, be these small parasites or human intrusive behaviour; and discover how these insects, which are crucial for the life of our planet, spend their day!
