Commezzadura is located right in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful ski areas, the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta Val di Sole Val Rendena Skiarea, which is associated with the Dolomiti Adamello Brenta Skirama.
Commezzadura comprises the hamlets of Mestriago; Mastellina, known for being the birthplace of the Guardi family of painters; and Piano, famous for the church of Sant’Agata, among the most charming in the valley. Other hamlets include Deggiano, Almazzago, Costa Rotian, and Daolasa, whose ski facilities are connected to Marilleva and can be accessed directly from the train station where the Dolomiti Express Ski Train stops.
You can catch a glimpse of the Church of Sant’Agata, one of the most charming in the Valley, as you drive along the state highway between Mestriago and Piano. The original church, mentioned in an Act dated 1439, was rebuilt in the last quarter of the 15th century. The apsidal portion of the church was frescoed between 1488 and the initial decades of the 16th century, first by Giovanni and Battista Baschenis, and later by Simone Baschenis (Stories of Sant’Agata). A large St Christopher (1495) is painted on an outside wall. The inside is divided into two naves and hosts the high altar as well as two smaller altars. The bell tower stands detached from the church and includes two sets of single-lancet windows and gabled roof with shingles.
The village of Daolasa di Commezzadura is known by mountain bike enthusiasts as the site of the 2008 and 2016 “Val di Sole Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships” and other top international competitions in the following years. From 25-29 August 2021, Daolasa will be hosting the 2021 Cross Country, Downhill and Four-Cross World Championships and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has also officially assigned to Daolasa and Val di Sole the 2026 MTB World Championships.
If you are looking for two-wheel fun, you can try the Bike Park Val di Sole at Commezzadura. You will be able to challenge the force of gravity and try out the best downhill trails where the world’s top riders have competed.
