The medium-easy difficulty hike unfolds partly through the cool woods of Val di Peio and partly on a comfortable dirt road exposed to the sun, leading to the Piz del Pai Waterfalls.

This pleasant walk begins upstream of the small village of Celentino and takes you across wide and green meadows exposed to the warm rays of the sun, before entering dense woods where you can enjoy a refreshing breeze. Leaving the comfortable dirt road behind, the path continues along a simple trail until you reach the waterfall. Let yourself be enchanted by the forest of Val di Pejo, enjoy the cool water sprays sliding on your skin, and admire the small but fascinating leap of the Piz del Pai Waterfall, falling into the narrow gorge of the rocks below.

The feasibility of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to contingent conditions and depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. Therefore, gather information about the route and its conditions before starting. You can do this by contacting the nearest Information Office; If you plan to reach a mountain dairy or a shelter, make sure they are open, and if you intend to stop for food or sleep, call them in advance to make a reservation; Leave indications about your itinerary and always carry your mobile phone; In case of an accident, call the number 112; Never abandon waste at higher altitudes, and if possible, avoid leaving it at the shelters or mountain dairies you visit; If you spot wild animals along the route, we encourage you to stay on the trail you are following, do not get too close, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent them from instinctively chasing or frightening them.

Starting point

Celentino - road towards Malga Campo

Directions

Upstream from the village of Celentino (1342 m), take the road towards Malga Campo and travel about 400 meters on the asphalted road. Just before the road turns into a dirt track, leave the car at the small parking lot. From here, a rather steep path starts, which becomes easier after a short stretch and alternates between false flats and gentler climbs. At the end of the dirt road, take a simple path through the woods that leads to the waterfall (1535 m) in 5-10 minutes. The route is very pleasant, surrounded by green meadows where you can feel the warmth of the sun on your skin and dense forest where you can take a break on warm summer afternoons. The waterfall may not be imposing, but its unique shape nestled in a narrow gorge of rocks and the splendid natural environment surrounding it still make it a gem worth visiting.

ALTERNATIVE ITINERARY:

There is an option for a circular hike starting from the village of Celledizzo. Take the dirt road towards Celentino and after 300 meters, turn left following the signs for Malga Sassa, Cascata Piz del Pai. From the waterfall, follow the trail towards the village of Celentino, then turn right onto the dirt road "Le Penagiole" until you reach Celledizzo.

To tackle this walk, we recommend wearing hiking boots and a cap, and carrying a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, and a water bottle in your backpack.
