Safety information

To prepare for a mountain hike, we recommend that you:

- choose a route suited to your fitness level. If in doubt, contact the Alpine Guides or our Information Offices

- prepare for your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you’ll be taking, and the schedules of the ski lifts, if your itinerary involves using them. Remember that the passability of trails in a mountain environment is closely tied to prevailing conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, be sure to thoroughly research the trail and its conditions before setting out

- Leave information about your itinerary and your approximate return time, and carry your cell phone with you

- Pay attention to the directions and signage along the route: Stelvio National Park signs, red-and-white SAT signs, and red-and-white markings on rocks or trees

- Book in advance at the mountain hut or refuge where you plan to stop for a meal or to sleep

- Never leave trash at high altitudes, and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or mountain huts you visit

- If you spot wild animals along the route, please stay on the trail you’re following, don’t get too close, don’t shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from chasing the animals out of instinct and scaring them

Where to park

Ask the municipality of Terzolas for permission to use the forest roads and drive up to the Terzolas mountain pasture.
