Safety information

Rules for mountain walks:

  • The practicability of trails in a mountain environment is closely linked to contingent conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. Therefore, be sure to check the route and its conditions before setting out. You can do so by contacting the nearest Information Office.
  • If you plan to visit a mountain hut or refuge, make sure they are open, and if you intend to stop for food or sleep, call in advance to book.Leave directions on your itinerary and always carry your cell phone with you.
  • In the event of an accident, call 112.
  • Never abandon waste at high altitudes and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or mountain huts you will visit.
  • If you spot wild animals along the way, please stay on the trail you are walking, don't get too close, don't shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing them and scaring them.

Starting point

Terzolas - Palazzo Torraccia

Directions

From the village of Terzolas, near Palazzo Torraccia, head towards Samoclevo, passing through Piazza della Chiesa and Via dei Canopi, following the signs for Valle path no. 7. Once you reach Samoclevo, you can continue east along an easy, flat path for about 4 km north of the villages of San Giacomo, Tozzaga, Bordiana, and Bozzana. Three branches off the main trail to the left, each taking about 50 minutes: the first, at Samoclevo, leads to the Rocca of the same name, an ancient keep once used to control traffic through the Noce Valley; the second, above San Giacomo, leads to the "Sassias" climbing wall and the "sassi coppellati," boulders with curious hemispherical cavities; and the third, above Bordiana, leads to the so-called "Trenches" of Bordiana and Bozzana, with the ruins of emplacements dating back to the Great War, where observation slits and walkways dug into the ground are still clearly visible. From here, you can descend to the village of Bordiana, where you can return to Terzolas by bus or train.

Alternatively, once you reach Samoclevo, past the fountain behind the church, take the uphill road on the left. At the fork, you can return to Terzolas by turning left onto a comfortable, sunny dirt road, reaching the small village of Arnago. The route continues downhill to the hamlet of Magras, which you pass through to return to the starting point.

Public transportation

You can reach the village of Terzolas by taking the TRENTO–MALÈ–MARILLEVA train (download the timetable for outbound and return). To then reach Palazzo Torraccia, walk straight along Via Longa, then turn right onto Via Roma until you reach the main square.

How to get there

Drive along the SS42, following the signs for Terzolas. At the Malè/Terzolas/Val di Rabbi exit, turn right and continue along Via della Campagna until you reach the village square.

Where to park

You can park in the center of Terzolas.
