E - Hiking
Starting point from the Pozzi Alti parking lot (1,884 m), reachable via a military dirt road that starts from the locality of Stavel near the town of Vermiglio. The road, about 6.2 km long, is accessible to everyone without the need for a permit. If you wish to also walk this stretch, it is possible to take the SAT trail 233 which leads to the former Forte Pozzi Alti (1 h 30 min), one of the Austro-Hungarian military posts defending Passo Tonale. From the parking lot, take the SAT trail 233 which, with a slight ascent, passes through a rock-carved gallery and some gullies until it intersects the SAT trail 206 coming directly from Stavel. Continue towards the Rifugio Stavel «F. Denza» (2,298 m) which is located right below the north face of Cima Presanella (3,558 m), the highest mountain in Trentino. The refuge has many historical points of interest related to the First World War, especially the characteristic wooden chapel.

FROM BOLOGNA-VERONA AND THE BRENNER
take the Brenner A22 motorway, exit Trento Nord, if coming from the South. Exit S. Michele all’Adige if coming from the North. Then continue towards Cles, Val di Non, Val di Sole up to Vermiglio.
FROM BERGAMO-BRESCIA
proceed along SS42 towards Passo Tonale up to Vermiglio.
Upon arriving at Vermiglio, follow the signs to Velon. Just after Hotel Baita Velon take the dirt road that climbs up to the former Forte Pozzi Alti.
