Among old sawmills and impressive mountain huts, followed by the peaceful sound of the water, this round itinerary takes us to some of the more fascinating places of the Stelvio National Park. It offers a great value on a naturalistic and a cultural (in terms of preservation of local cultural traditions) point of view.
Following some of the places you should stop at:
Segheria Veneziana dei Bègoi: this is an ancient sawmill of the 18th century rebuilt by the Park. It is a testament of the hydraulic technology used until the advent of the electricity. It can still be visited and seen in full operation.
La piana del Còler (mt. 1380): a charming place characterized by its beautiful mountain huts, with their typical roofs made of "scàndole" (wooden shingles). Some of them are built with the block-bau technique, so that their external walls are made of overlapped logs.
