Rules for mountain walks:

  • The accessibility of routes in a mountainous environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. Therefore, get good information about the route and its conditions before leaving. You can do this by contacting the Information Office closest to you;
  • If you plan to reach a malga or a refuge, make sure they are open and, if you intend to stop to eat or sleep, call in advance to book;
  • Leave information about your itinerary and always carry your mobile phone;
  • In case of accident call number 112;
  • Never leave trash at altitude and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or malgas you visit;
  • If you see wild animals along the route, please stay on the path you are walking, don’t get too close, don’t shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it instinctively chasing and frightening them.

Starting point

Ortisè

Directions

The route is a true natural terrace over the Val di Sole, with a wide view of the Dolomiti di Brenta and the Presanella, the highest peak of Trentino. Starting from Ortisè, a typical mountain village at an altitude of 1477 m, you can leave your car in the parking lot near the small church. From here, take the carriage road towards Malga Stabli (1814 m), easily passable even with a stroller or possibly reachable by car without needing permits and after about 7 km of walking, you will reach the beautiful malga. Take a break to admire the panorama and to taste the typical Trentino dishes on the menu. For the return, follow the same itinerary as the outward journey.

From Malga Stabli, open with a catering service, it is possible to continue towards Malga Bronzolo: after passing Val del Molinac, enter a forest of firs and larches to shortly cross a winding and very panoramic stretch, which will lead to the wide pasture around Malga Bronzolo (2084 m) where you can meet friendly cows, goats, and other grazing animals. From there, return to Malga Stabli by the same road.
