For a mountain hike, we suggest:
Choose a route suitable for your level of preparation. If in doubt, contact our Information Offices.
Plan your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you will follow, and the lift operating times if your itinerary includes their use. Remember that the accessibility of mountain trails is closely linked to current conditions and depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. Therefore, make sure to gather detailed information about the route and its conditions before setting out.
Leave information about your itinerary, your approximate return time, and bring your mobile phone.
Pay attention to the signs and markings along the way: signs of the Stelvio National Park, white and red SAT signs, and red and white paint marks on rocks or trees.
In case of an emergency, call 112.
Book in advance at the alpine hut or mountain lodge where you plan to eat or stay overnight.
Never leave trash behind, and if possible, avoid leaving it at huts or mountain lodges you visit.
If you spot wild animals along the trail, we urge you to stay on the path, avoid getting too close, don’t shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing and scaring them.
For this walk, we recommend wearing hiking boots and a hat, and bringing a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, and a water bottle in your backpack.
Don't forget a camera or your phone to capture the landscapes and views that you like the most. If you feel like it, you can share them on social media using #visitvaldisole.
