Safety information

Rules for mountain walks:

  • the passability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, get good information about the route and its conditions before starting. You can do this by contacting the Information Office closest to you
  • if you plan to reach a mountain hut or refuge, make sure they are open and, if you intend to stop for eating or sleeping, call in advance to book
  • leave indications about your route and always carry your phone with you
  • in case of an accident call emergency number 112
  • never leave waste in the mountains and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the huts or mountain farms you visit
  • if you see wild animals along the route, please stay on the trail you are walking, do not approach too closely, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing and scaring them

Starting point

Mezzana

Directions

Starting from the town center of Mezzana, more precisely from Piazza Trento, where you can't miss a quick visit to the church of Saints Peter and Paul and the Sanctuary of Madonna di Caravaggio with their wooden altars and beautiful frescoes, walk along Via Maturi for about 150 meters and cross the Rio Spona. Once you have crossed the river, take the road on the right that leads to Plazza della Novalina. Here take the road on the left and after 500 meters you will reach the majestic and roaring waters of the Mezzana Waterfall. To continue along the circular route, head back until you take the left road towards Plaze. From here, continue towards Castello until you reach the characteristic alpine structures called "Masi de Guil" and then descend along the trail that leads to Claiano. From Claiano, cross the state road using a convenient underpass and take the forest road near Pont de le Caore. Then return to Mezzana.

Alternatively, after admiring the waterfalls, you can return along the same path and head towards Mason, a place known for its dry stone walls. Once in Mason, crossing wide panoramic meadows, you can reach Menas.
