Safety information

Rules for mountain hikes:
  • The passability of trails in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, make sure to get good information about the route and its conditions before you start. You can do this by contacting the nearest Information Office.
  • If you plan to reach an alpine hut or refuge, make sure they are open, and if you intend to stop for food or sleep, call them in advance to book.
  • Leave details about your itinerary and always carry your mobile phone with you.
  • In case of an accident, call the number 112.
  • Never leave waste in the high mountains, and if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or alpine huts you visit.
  • If you spot wild animals along the route, please stay on the trail you are following, do not get too close, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing them and frightening them.

Starting point

Mezzana - Trento square

Directions

The simple itinerary leading to the waterfalls starts from Piazza Trento, in the center of the village of Mezzana, a mountain town that owes its name to its central position in the valley. On the square, before setting off, it is certainly worth visiting the Parish Church dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Caravaggio. Built next to each other, the two churches are true architectural landmarks — the first was built between 1498 and 1536, and the second starting in 1707. After visiting the two buildings, the route begins along Via Maturi for about 150 meters, crossing the Rio Spona. Then take the road on the right leading to Piazza della Novalina, from where you turn left onto the road called “Plazöle,” and after 500 meters continue on the right until you reach the waterfall. The return is along the same route.
