Safety information

Rules for mountain hikes:
  • The passability of trails in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, make sure to get good information about the route and its conditions before you start. You can do this by contacting the nearest Information Office.
  • If you plan to reach an alpine hut or refuge, make sure they are open, and if you intend to stop for food or sleep, call them in advance to book.
  • Leave details about your itinerary and always carry your mobile phone with you.
  • In case of an accident, call the number 112.
  • Never leave waste in the high mountains, and if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or alpine huts you visit.
  • If you spot wild animals along the route, please stay on the trail you are following, do not get too close, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing them and frightening them.

Starting point

Mezzana

Directions

Starting from the center of Mezzana, specifically from Piazza Trento – where you shouldn’t miss a quick visit to the Church of Saints Peter and Paul and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Caravaggio, with their wooden altars and beautiful frescoes – walk about 150 meters along Via Maturi and cross the Rio Spona. After the stream, take the road on the right that leads to Plazza della Novalina. Here, turn left and after 500 meters you’ll reach the majestic and roaring waters of the Mezzana Waterfall. To continue along the loop itinerary, walk back a short distance and then turn left onto the road leading to the locality of Plaze. From there, continue toward Castello until you reach the typical alpine structures known as “Masi de Guil,” and then descend along the path that leads to the locality of Claiano. From Claiano, cross the main road via a convenient underpass and take the forest road near the Pont de le Caore. From there, return to Mezzana.

Alternatively, after admiring the waterfalls, return along the same path and head toward Mason, a locality known for its dry stone walls. From Mason, crossing wide panoramic meadows, you can reach Menas.
