For snow hiking activities follow these guidelines:

  • Be well informed about the route and its conditions before you go. You can do this by contacting your nearest tourist information office;
  • the day before the hike consult the weather forecast and avalanche bulletin;
  • if you plan to reach an alpine hut or refuge, make sure they are open and, if you plan to stop for food or sleep, call them in advance to make reservations;
  • before you leave, if you don't feel well, postpone going out until you feel better;
  • never leave garbage at high altitudes and,if possible, avoid leaving it at the huts or pastures you will visit;
  • if you spot wild animals along the trail, please do not approach them, do not shout and keep your dog on a leash, lest by instinct it chase them, scaring them away.

Starting point

Residence Artuik in Marilleva 1400

Directions

The itinerary begins at the Artuik Residence in Marilleva 1400, from which an uphill trail starts towards Ponte Alto. Continue uphill until you reach a hairpin bend and, leaving the main trail to the left that goes in the direction of the Malghet Lakes, continue through the woods, very dense in places, until you reach the Malga Alta di Fazzon. From here you reach downhill the fascinating Lago dei Caprioli and pause to admire the reflections of the mountains on the ice. Here you can plan a gourmet lake-view stop at the Chalet Lago dei Caprioli (we recommend it!) but, before leaving for the hike, inquire about the opening hours and, if possible, book in advance at (+39) 0463 751157.For the return journey you can choose to return to Marilleva 1400 by the same route or, alternatively, descend to Pellizzano along the Sentiero degli Gnomi (Gnome Trail).

Public transportation

You can reach Marilleva 1400 with the MALÉ - MEZZANA - MARILLEVA 1400 bus line of Trentino Trasporti(download schedules) or get to Marilleva 900 with the TRENTO-MALÉ- MARILLEVA train (download round-trip schedules) and from there reach Marilleva 1400 with the Contrè- Malga Copai gondola.
