Safety information

To undertake a mountain hike, we suggest you:

• choose a route suitable for your fitness level. If in doubt, contact the Alpine Guides or our Information Offices
• prepare your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you will follow, and the operating hours of the lifts if your itinerary involves their use. Remember that the practicability of mountain routes is strictly linked to current conditions and depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, gather good information about the route and its conditions before starting
• leave information about your itinerary, your approximate return time, and carry your phone with you
• pay attention to the signs and markings you find along the way: Stelvio Park signs, white and red SAT signs, and red and white paint marks on stones or trees
• book in advance the mountain hut or refuge where you plan to stop for food or overnight stay
• never leave waste at high altitude and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or mountain huts you will visit
• if you spot wild animals along the route, we invite you to stay on the path you are following, do not approach closely, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing and frightening them

Starting point

Directions

From the Folgarida cable car square at 1300 meters, you ascend by cable car to the Malghet Aut locality at 1860 meters (see here for the schedule). Here, along a dirt road, the route begins that leads to Rifugio Solander - Alpe Daolasa (2045 meters), which can be reached in one hour. Continuing for about 40 minutes on foot, you reach the adjacent Rifugio Orso Bruno - Monte Vigo at 2180 m. From here, descending for 40 minutes along the SAT 201 path, it is finally possible to reach the picturesque Lago delle Malghette at 1889 meters. The return is possible via the Sentiero dei Patori to Alpe Daolasa and then along the outbound route back to Malghet Aut. 

Public transportation

You can reach Folgarida Belvedere with the public bus MALE' - FOLGARIDA - MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO up to the Belvedere parking lot. From here, you can reach the starting point of the hike with the Belvedere cable car. 

How to get there

You can reach Folgarida via SS239 coming both from Val di Sole and Val Rendena via Passo Campo Carlo Magno. With the lifts you reach the Malghet Aut locality where the route begins.

To undertake a mountain hike, it is always useful to:

• wear trekking boots suitable for uneven, irregular, and wet terrain, long pants, a hat, and sunglasses
• pack a waterproof jacket, a fleece shirt, hat and gloves, sunscreen, and minimal spare clothing in your backpack
• bring a water bottle and snacks for energy dips (dried fruit, bars, or chocolate)
