Malga Stablasolo is an oasis of greenery in the Stelvio National Park. Water, panoramic views and nature are the elements that mainly characterize this hike, suitable also for children.
We suggest you extend the hike by about forty minutes to reach the Saènt Waterfalls and be fascinated by the power and roar of their waters.

Suggestions

The hike is suitable for children but cannot be done with strollers. If you go to the waterfalls, be cautious as the terrain nearby is slippery.

Safety information

To undertake a mountain hike, we suggest you:

  • choose a route suitable for your preparation. If in doubt, contact the Mountain Guides or our Information Offices;
  • prepare your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you will follow and the schedules of the lifts, if your itinerary includes their use. Remember that the passability of the routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason inform yourself well about the route and its conditions before leaving;
  • leave information about your itinerary, the approximate return time and bring your mobile phone;
  • pay attention to the signs and signals you find along the route: Stelvio Park signs, white and red SAT signs and red and white brushstrokes on stones or trees;
  • alert emergency by calling 112, in case of accident;
  • book in advance the malga or refuge where you intend to stay to eat or sleep;
  • never leave waste in the mountains and, if possible, avoid leaving it near the refuges or malgas you visit; if you spot wild animals along the route, we invite you to stay on the path you are taking, do not get too close, do not shout and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it instinctively chasing and frightening them.

Starting point

Locality Coler

Directions

Once you reach locality Colèr by car or, in the summer months, by the Stelviobus Rabbi shuttle bus - Line 1, follow the signs for path 106, which keep you on the right side of Val Saènt, following the route along the Rabbies stream, calm in the first part with a gentle slope and increasingly steep as you go up.
At one point you will arrive at a characteristic wooden bridge on your left. You can cross it to reach Malga Stablasolo in a few hundred meters or you can plan to extend the route by about forty minutes to admire the Saént Waterfalls.

In the first case, you will reach the malga in a few minutes, while in the second, which we strongly and enthusiastically recommend, you will be facing one of the most beautiful postcards of the Val di Sole, with the waterfall’s current giving you an idea of the disruptive power of the water. Once you reach the last waterfall, cross the wooden bridge and climb for a few dozen meters until a resting point, from where you can admire the beautiful panorama of the valley and the peaks in front of you. At this point, continue to the left along path no. 106, which will first guide you to the Stablet Visitor Center (home of the marmot) and then to the malga.

At Malga Stablasolo you must try the house specialties and buy the delicious cheese at the sales point, then you will descend to the valley along the forest road that leads back to the parking lot.
