Easy and panoramic route to reach NestAlp Malga Campo.
Malga Campo is the malga of Celentino, a small village at the entrance of the Val di Peio. Its location offers a natural panoramic balcony, from which your gaze will sweep over the Brenta Dolomites, the Presanella, and the Cevedale group.
The route to reach it is quite easy and suitable also for families with children (however, it is not possible to do it with strollers!). Part of the malga - the old 'shepherds' hut' - is used as a museum where you can see up close how life was once among these pastures.
To undertake a mountain hike we suggest you:
After leaving the car, follow the signs to NestAlp Malga Campo, which you will reach in about 20 minutes. You can take the comfortable dirt road for about one kilometer or take the path, a little rougher and steeper but faster.
Next to the stallion starts the path to Lake Monte or Lake Celentino. The path goes into the forest, leaving little view, but then upon arriving at the lake clearing, a spectacular view opens onto the upper Sole Valley.
Lake Monte is an ephemeral lake: you can admire it only in spring or at most at the beginning of summer, because it is fed by water from snowmelt. It is still rich in flora and fauna belonging to marsh species and from here you can admire the Brenta Dolomites, the Presanella and the Tonale Pass as well as the Cevedale with its glaciers.
Return to Malga Campo and take some time here to contemplate the panorama, to savor their cuisine, mainly zero-kilometer products, and to visit the Malga Museum, where you will understand how life was in the malga a few decades ago.
For the return, follow the signs to Celentino until you reach the locality S. Antonio, where you left the car.
You should know that the Via delle Malghe passes through Malga Campo, a path that connects the main malgas of the Sole Valley. This is also a transit point of the Alta via degli Alpeggi: shepherds used to pass through here, exploiting pastures between Malga Campo and the Ortisè malgas, on the side located after Lake Monte.
