You can reach Malga Borche by car with a permit to be requested from the ASUC of Celledizzo or the Municipality of Peio.

Safety information

To face a mountain hike we suggest you:

  • choose a route suitable for your preparation. In case of doubts, contact the Alpine Guides or our Information Offices
  • prepare your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you will follow and the times of the lifts, if your itinerary requires their use. Remember that the passability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, get well informed about the route and its conditions before leaving
  • leave information about your itinerary, the approximate return time and bring your cell phone
  • pay attention to the signs and signage you find on the route: Stelvio Park signs, white and red SAT signs and red and white brushstrokes on stones or trees
  • book in advance the hut or refuge where you intend to stop to eat or sleep
  • never abandon waste at altitude and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or huts you will visit
  • if you spot wild animals along the route, we invite you to stay on the trail you are walking, do not approach too closely, do not shout and keep your dog on a leash, to avoid that instinctively it chases them, frightening them

Starting point

Cogolo (Via Cercen)

Directions

Starting from Cogolo in Via Cercen, you follow a decidedly steep road alternating between stretches immersed in dense woods and stretches that open onto wide, green pastures along the SAT 109B trail until you reach the hut located at 1,808 meters altitude. Once you reach the hut, we recommend you take a break and relax with a blanket spread out on its pastures, listening to the cowbells of the grazing cows ringing in the distance and the water of the streams around you rushing. If you still have energy, you can continue along the same trail and follow the signs to reach Malga Levi at 2,015 meters altitude.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE

You can also reach Malga Borche starting from Celledizzo, just behind the church, reach the road above the nearby stable crossing the uphill meadow beside the cemetery and take the forest road (SAT 109 trail) which climbs for about 7 kilometers with a significant slope until you reach the hut.

Public transportation

You can reach Cogolo by line bus MALÈ - MEZZANA - FUCINE - COGOLO - PEIO (download the schedules for outbound and return).

How to get there

Follow the SS42 and at the junction for Val di Peio, exit to the right and follow the SP87 until you reach the village of Cogolo.

Where to park

You can leave your car in Cogolo, in the large parking lot you will find along the road and then you can reach the starting point of the route in Via Cercen on foot in about 10 minutes.

For a mountain hike, it is always useful to:

  • wear trekking boots suitable for uneven, irregular and wet ground, long pants, hat and sunglasses
  • put in your backpack a waterproof jacket, a fleece, hat and gloves, sunscreen, minimum spare clothing
  • bring a water bottle and snacks for energy drops (dried fruit, bars or chocolate)
  • don't forget a camera or cell phone to capture the panoramas and views you like the most. If you want, you can share them on social media using #visitvaldisole
