A short and easy walk for botanic lovers who want to discover all secrets of the different free species in Val di Peio
From the sycamore to the black elder then the common hawthorn, the ash and the raspberry bush. This easy didactic and naturalistic itinerary takes us into the amazing world of the local tree species. Some small table on the way encourage the identification and the correct naming, also in the local dialect, of every tree. On this way you will be able to see a large number of different trees like the sycamore, the black elder, the red elderberry, the hazelnut tree, the goat willow, the larch, the spruce, the common hawthorn, the birch, the grey alder, the aspen, the cherry-tree, the ash, the raspberry bush, the rowan, the whitebeam, the black locust, the red-leaved rose, the glaucous dog rose, the common barberry, the blackthorn and more mosses and lichens on trunks and branches.

Safety information
This itinerary is short, easy and goes on an easy road. No special precautions are required more than the basic safety standards for mountain walks and hikes.
Starting point
Pegàia di Cogolo (place)
Directions
The round itinerary starts at the place called Pegaia di Cogolo and goes on the slope under the village Peio. The species on this way are indicated on some small panels, which allow their identification and at the same time show the trail you need to follow.
At the village Cogolo, before the factory Idropeio, turn right following the road signs to Val de la Mare. After around 1 km you will find a small parking where you can leave you car and start the itinerary.
Where to park
Parking at the cemetery of the place Pegàia.
This suggestive walk into the wood is easy and therefore it is walkable for everybody. No specific hiking equipment is required. However, we strongly suggest to wear hiking boots or shoes and eventually bring some trekking poles
