Medium-difficult route, through the wild woods of Val di Bon up to Lago Venezia, for experienced hikers seeking silence and hidden views.

This medium-difficulty hiking route leads to one of the most authentic and wild corners of Val di Sole: the Val di Bon. The start is from the village of Ossana and after about 2 km by car, you reach the locality Valpiana where you can park.

The first section crosses a dense forest dominated by majestic firs and larches, offering shade and coolness even on the hottest days. After the initial climb, a clearing opens near the former Baito di Bon (1686 m), where the signs for Lago Venezia are located.

After passing the Stalon di Bon bivouac, hidden among the trees to the left, continue until you reach the remote and picturesque area of Lago Venezia (2046 m), surrounded by pastures and rocks.

On some parts of the trail, you will have to overcome some large exposed rocks, so we suggest paying close attention and carefully evaluating each foothold, especially on the descent.

The return follows the same route.

Suggestions

Along the route, at an altitude of 1849 m, you will find a mountain hut called Stalon di Bon. Part of the structure has been renovated and is now used as a bivouac, offering simple but valuable shelter in this remote corner of Val di Bon.

Safety information

To face a mountain hike, we suggest you:

  • choose a route suitable for your preparation. In case of doubt, contact the Alpine Guides or our Information Offices
  • prepare your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you will follow, and the lift schedules if your itinerary includes their use. Remember that the passability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, inform yourself well about the route and its conditions before departure
  • leave information about your itinerary, the approximate return time, and carry your mobile phone with you
  • pay attention to the signs and signalization you find on the route: Stelvio Park signs, white and red SAT signs, and red and white markings on stones or trees
  • book in advance the mountain hut or refuge where you intend to stop to eat or sleep
  • never leave waste in the mountains and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or huts you visit
  • if you encounter wild animals along the route, stay on the path you are following, do not approach them too closely, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing and frightening them
