The Viscle walk is a simple hike that leads from the locality of Velon to Malga Pecè, following the course of the Vermigliana stream. The sound of its waters will accompany you for almost the entire route, which, with little elevation gain, will take you to the alpine hut and its green and wide pasture, where you can enjoy a moment of rest in the midst of nature.

Easy circular route that, with little elevation gain and mostly on a comfortable and flat dirt road, takes you to Malga Pecé. Here, you can take your time to enjoy the surrounding panorama and nature, with only the birdsong from the forest around the hut as your soundtrack. The route runs along the sparkling waters of the Vermigliana stream, almost entirely shaded by fir and pine trees, making it a perfect trail for hot summer days.

Rules for Hiking in the Mountains:

Trail accessibility in the mountains is closely tied to current conditions and may be affected by natural events, environmental changes, and weather. For this reason, make sure to check the trail and its conditions before setting out. You can do this by contacting the nearest tourist information office.
If you plan to reach a mountain hut or alpine pasture (malga), make sure it is open and call in advance to reserve a spot if you plan to eat or stay there.
In case of an accident, dial 112.
Never leave trash behind at high altitudes, and if possible, avoid leaving it even at huts or malghe you visit.
If you encounter wild animals along the trail, remain on the path, do not approach them, avoid shouting, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from chasing or frightening them.

Vermiglio-Hotel Baita Velon

Directions

After passing the Hotel Baita Velon (1348 m), where you can park your car, follow the trail marked “Passeggiata delle Viscle” (1432 m). Walking along the flat dirt road that runs alongside the stream, you’ll reach a large picnic area – perfect for enjoying a packed lunch or a short break in the shade, breathing in the cool alpine air.

Beyond the picnic area, the path turns right, crosses a bridge, and then immediately takes a left towards the “Pradi del Pecé” (if you have a stroller, continue on the dirt road toward Velon). From here, head uphill across green pastures until you reach the malga located at 1503 meters above sea level.

To return, follow the forest road, initially keeping to the left side of the stream, then crossing a bridge to the right, completing the loop trail.

Public transportation

You can reach the village of Vermiglio by Trentino Trasporti line bus on the route MALÈ – MEZZANA – FUCINE – VERMIGLIO – TONALE (download the schedules for the outbound and return journeys).

How to get there

Drive along the SS42 until you reach the village of Vermiglio, then follow the signs to Velon.

Where to park

You can park your car in the parking area near the Hotel Baita Velon.

For this hike, we recommend wearing hiking boots and a hat, and bringing a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, and a water bottle in your backpack.
