Starting point

Montes

Directions

The route starts at the parking lot in loc. Montes (a hamlet of Malè), where you leave the car. Once in the saddle, you take the paved road with a slight descent towards Bolentina. Upon reaching the characteristic mountain village, you start pedaling uphill surrounded by green meadows and wide pastures where you can admire the grazing cows during the summer season. Where the conifer forest begins, the road becomes compact dirt and initially climbs gently, passing by some characteristic huts.

Some steep sections (with a reinforced concrete surface) alternate with pleasant stretches of gentle slope; at km 5.1 it is possible to take a very small detour (taking the dirt road towards the Lower Bolentina Malga, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the nearby Val di Rabbi and the surrounding mountain groups).

The final stretch of ascent, which leads to the highest point of the route (altitude 1,600m above sea level) at Piazza Marendaia, is steep but passable with all vehicles including e-tandem and e-handbike. The view opening from Mas de la Cros rewards all effort: among the mountain peaks you can notice the sunlit Cimon di Bolentina standing out.

The return route to the starting point is on a comfortable forest track up to loc. Mas de Mez, where the asphalt resumes to return to loc. Montes.
