The Silence of Ice

Ice climbing

Amidst you, only silence, an almost deafening silence. The only voice you'll hear is that of the mountain guide, guiding you during the ascent, providing the right advice to face the ice wall. The only sound, the crunching of ice under your crampons and the accelerating heartbeat – pure adrenaline!

Where can you try ice climbing?

In Val di Sole, there are almost 40 icefalls and we recommend the most adrenaline-pumping ones. Not to be missed is certainly the Cascata Grande in Valpiana, one of the most imposing in Val di Sole, the Cascata Salto dei Cembri in Val di Peio, among the most beautiful with a height of 100 meters, and the Cascata di Valorz in Val di Rabbi, a true paradise for ice climbing.

Who to contact?

To tackle icefalls, we recommend always turning to mountain professionals who, in addition to providing advice and potentially renting suitable equipment for the ascent, will also make you feel comfortable and safe facing such imposing elements.

Snow Surfing

Snowkite

Have you ever experienced the thrill of snow kiting? You heard it right! At Passo del Tonale, challenge yourself in an activity as fun as it is bizarre: with skis or a snowboard on your feet, holding the kite and with the help of the wind, let yourself be carried along the vast snow expanses in front of you, having fun trying some unparalleled acrobatics and jumps.

Where can you practice snowkiting?

Snowkiting requires a ventilated environment and large snowy expanses that allow you to have fun without too many obstacles. What better place than Passo del Tonale? It's not just us saying it; experts in this sport also consider Passo del Tonale one of the best places for snowkiting.

Who to contact?

At Passo del Tonale, you'll find the Snowkite School, a team of professional and passionate instructors ready to teach you the best techniques to face Aeolus. Before planning your snowkiting experience, we recommend calling the school at T. 327 2041363 to verify that the snow and wind conditions are suitable.

Ski mountaineering

If you prefer enjoying the satisfaction of reaching the summit after a strenuous ascent and having fun skiing down in fresh snow instead of the classic groomed slopes, then Val di Sole will not disappoint you. Whether you are a beginner or a skilled skialper, here you can find various routes to try this sport in close contact with nature.

Where can you practice ski mountaineering?

The pristine landscapes where you can practice ski mountaineering are numerous, and in Val di Sole, you'll be spoilt for choice. We recommend downloading the map dedicated to ski touring routes, which we have selected for you.

Who to contact?

It's important to remember that ski mountaineering requires a deep knowledge of the mountains and special attention. Therefore, we always recommend contacting the Alpine Mountaineering School of Val di Sole to organize your outing with the valley's experienced Alpine Guides. In any case, before planning your ski mountaineering excursion, always check the avalanche bulletin and remember to bring your self-rescue kit.

Adventure in Fresh Snow

Freeride

Do you want to fill up on adrenaline, having fun descending in fresh snow on off-piste slopes? Then you absolutely must try the discipline of freeride. Once you reach the summit with the ski lifts, the fun begins! Are you ready to tackle the mountain in a completely different way?

Where can you practice freeride?

The PontediLegno-Tonale Ski Area is now one of the most sought-after destinations across the entire Alpine region for freeriders from all over Europe. The terrain morphology, heavy snowfall, and slope inclination make off-piste skiing truly unique. In particular, Sgualdrina is the most beloved off-piste run that attracts several enthusiasts of this discipline. Easily accessible with the Presena Cable Car, just descend to the intermediate stop and launch into the fresh snow of Val Presena until you reach Passo del Tonale again.

Who to contact?

Whether it's your first time or you've already practiced this sport, we recommend turning to professionals to guide you in the descent and learn the best technique to navigate the powder.
